Burn baby burn.
Having been battling the effects of creative burnout lately, I have been looking for any way to restoke my creative fire. In doing so, I have found many great design forums with great posts that inspire the imagination. I have also found solace in my iPod, which has always been pulling me out of slumps. Here are some tips that I use to get back into the design groove.
Take a step back and breathe - Don’t burn your wick to the bottom. Take a deep breath, get outside, read a book, take a walk, listen to some music, do something but create. The thoughts and creativity that you need can come from the least likely places.
Experiment with other media - I am looking forward to an upcoming video project to alleviate my current Web site workload. Taking pictures or sketching can also provide a welcome diversion when you really need it.
If you don’t have a looming deadline, take a break - Just get away from work for a while. That’s all.
I hope that these tips can help a few people out. I know that I am going to use a follow a few of them this weekend.
