What a year it’s been

CalendarAs we wind down 2010 and look forward to the upcoming year, I've been taking stock of the opportunities and connections that I've experience through the year and, to be honest, still can't believe them all.

Jumping out of the gate.
I had the great fortune to listened to and met with Chris Brogan during his January trip to Milwaukee. This was a great chance for me to gauge some thoughts on some up-and-coming (at the time) online social communities and services. This was a huge opportunity that I'm glad to have offered to me and thankfully, the year was full of many more.

On-stage during the @Banks panel discussion.Hitting Vegas.
I was invited to participate on a social networking panel and represent my full-time employer North Shore Bank during the 4th Annual Mobile Banking and Emerging Applications Summit in Las Vegas. I'd done some public speaking in the past, but this was an entirely new experience. This was a great opportunity to share my enthusiasm and passion for the social Web with people from all over the country, not to mention a great learning session for me as well. It certainly threw me into the deep end of not only the presenting and speaking side, but also face-to-face networking.

The @Banks panel discussion. The panel discussion with Jesse Torres was great and I was thrilled to see the amount of questions that were asked afterwards as well as the great connections that I came away with.

Thanks to Matt Davis for taking the on-stage photos! I greatly enjoyed meeting him at the Mobile Banking Summit!

Making connections online and off.
If the people I'd met during my Vegas trip were any indication of those that I would meet over the course of the summer, I was in for a treat. I was right. Through more speaking gigs and tweet ups, I'd met some truly remarkable and like-minded people. I can't wait to work with these people and meet even more in the years to come.

Great work with great clients.
I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the great opportunities that my clients have given me over the past year. I was able to test out some QR code adjustments when creating an iPad wallpaper image for Escape Route and capped off a great reconnection with an old friend, Rebecca Hutchinson, for her blog redesign (www.iwannabeadomesticgoddess.com). Helping Marjorie Treu launch her book site, 78 Mistakes New Managers Make. What a great way to end a great year.

Adding to all of that, this bit of iPad icing to top things off! Bring on 2011!
